WRITING

Writing has always been at the heart of my creative process. From scripting television commercials to working on large-scale productions, I approach each project with the goal of crafting stories that connect and leave a lasting impression.

Most recently, I had the incredible opportunity to contribute to Video Nasty, a co-production with Boatrocker, BBC, WDR, Fifth Season, Screen Ireland, and Virgin Media Television. This project allowed me to stretch my screenwriting muscles, working alongside a talented team to bring a unique story to life.

In addition to Video Nasty, I hold a degree in Screenwriting from IADT, which has provided me with a strong foundation in narrative structure, character development, and dialogue. My experience spans broadcast writing as well, with contributions to popular shows such as RTE’s The Summer Show, Nationwide, and Paul Flynn’s Foodtruck Favourites. Writing for these programs has honed my ability to create content that is not only engaging but also adaptable to different formats and audiences.

I’ve also written many of the television commercials I’ve directed, ensuring a cohesive vision from concept to completion. Writing is where my projects begin, and it’s the thread that ties everything together, ensuring a strong narrative backbone no matter the medium.

Crafting Stories that Stick

Writing has always been a cornerstone of my creative process. It’s where ideas take shape, and every great project I’ve been a part of started with words on a page. From my work on large-scale productions like Video Nasty to the numerous television commercials I’ve written and directed, each project has offered me a new opportunity to explore different genres, tones, and narratives.

Qualifications and Training

My formal training in writing began at IADT, where I earned a degree in Screenwriting. This gave me a solid foundation in story structure, character development, and the many intricacies of the craft. I’ve since built on that knowledge with real-world experience, most recently through Final Draft training with Rosie Dias, a UK-based Production Coordinator at thecallsheet.co.uk. This training sharpened my technical skills with industry-standard software, developing my Script Editing knowledge such as amendments and memos (including coloured pages), sides and creating scene-per-page scripts as well as reports and tagging.

Writing for the Screen: Video Nasty

One of the most exciting projects I’ve worked on recently was Video Nasty, a co-production involving Boatrocker, BBC, WDR, Fifth Season, Screen Ireland, and Virgin Media Television. Being part of this production was a dream come true. As part of a Screen Ireland and the National Talent Academies 'Film & TV Drama Shadow' initiative, I was placed on Video Nasty and attended writers rooms, working directly with the Development Producer, Head Writer and Script Editor, learning from some of the best in the industry. From Aug’23 - Jan’24 I gave continued support on each Script giving notes, feedback and suggestions up until production.

In addition to my screenwriting work, I’ve also written for several popular Irish broadcast television shows. Writing for broadcast has taught me how to engage a broad audience, whether through heartfelt human-interest stories or energetic food and lifestyle segments.
